Eric is a long-time Bangkok-based French entrepreneur, promoter of Bangkok’s cultural heritage, art curator, experience designer, photographer, and content provider. He founded Rock Around Bangkok in 2024—an innovative cultural agency that designs and delivers immersive, off-the-beaten-path cultural experiences, including private guided tours, team-building activities, and museum-based games—all aimed at connecting individuals and businesses with Bangkok’s cultural heritage and hidden gems.
After travelling for seven months on a motorcycle through Southeast Asia in 2010—covering over 22,000 km across six countries (Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Indonesia, and Burma)—Eric relocated from Paris to Bangkok in 2011.
Initially involved in the arts and crafts sector, he launched the Rock Around Asia Art Gallery in 2012 at the Novotel Suvarnabhumi Airport Hotel. This was followed by the establishment of Art Consulting Asia in 2017, a full-service interior decoration and home staging studio specialising in art, design, and aesthetics.
Eric Monteil is not only passionate about Bangkok’s cultural heritage but is also a true Bangkokian—an adopted son of the city who has chronicled its 300-year history. He studied chemistry in Paris and holds an Executive MBA.
He began his career at L’Oréal before moving into the leisure aviation sector, and later into the IT and software industry. In 2006, he co-founded GutemberPresse, which was acquired by the Canadian firm CEDEROM SNI (now Cision) in early 2010.
Eric has a passion for motorbikes and is also a certified instructor in hang-gliding, paragliding, ultralight aviation, and paramotoring.
